Your document is read inside your browser and is never sent anywhere. This is not a promise about our conduct; it is a property of how the site is built. There is no upload endpoint on this site to send a document to.

What happens to a file you open

• It is read into your browser's memory and analysed there.
• Nothing derived from it is transmitted: not the text, the filename, the author name stored in the document, the number of paragraphs, nor any identifier read out of it.
• Nothing derived from it is stored on your device either. Closing or resetting the page discards it.
• A report you download is generated in your browser and handed to you. We never receive a copy.

What we do measure

We use Umami, a cookieless analytics tool, to count visits. It sets no cookie and builds no profile of you, and it honours the "Do Not Track" setting in your browser. Besides which page was viewed, it can record exactly these events and no others:

• analysis_started
• analysis_result_has_history or analysis_result_no_history
• report_downloaded
• one analysis_error_… name, when a file could not be read

Each of those is a bare name. There is no way for a measurement on this site to carry a value at all: the code that sends them accepts a name from that fixed list and nothing else, so a paragraph count, a percentage, or anything else taken from your document has no channel to travel through. That matters because counts and proportions taken from one specific file can identify that file.

The one page that downloads something

Everything above describes the tool pages, and on those this site makes no request to anyone about your document at all. The detector page is different in exactly one way, and it is worth stating separately rather than folding into the sentence above: if you click the button that offers to score your own text, your browser downloads a 120 MB model from Hugging Face.

That download goes one way. The model comes to your device and your text is scored there; nothing you paste is sent to Hugging Face, to us, or to anyone else. The page names the size before the download starts, and if you never press that button the page contacts nobody.

Advertising

This site carries advertising. Where the law requires it, you are asked for consent through a certified consent tool before any advertising code loads, and you can change that choice at any time. Advertising is never placed between your file and your result, inside the result, or beside the statement of the analysis's limits.
