Draft Record is a small tool with one job: read the editing history a Word file keeps about itself, and show it to the person who wrote the file. It is built and run by AIErudit, and it is free.

Why it refuses to give a verdict

The obvious version of this site would print a number telling you whether your text was written by a machine. It would also be worthless to you, because that is precisely the kind of number that got you here. Detectors flag human writing, they flag writers whose first language is not English at several times the rate of native speakers, and several universities have turned them off for those reasons.

So this site reports what your file recorded and stops there. If a page ever starts telling you what your text is, that is a defect, and we would like to hear about it.

How to check us

Every claim on this site is meant to be checkable rather than trusted:

How it is paid for

Advertising, placed below the result and never between you and it. That is the whole business model: there is nothing to buy, no account, and no paywall on anything. See cookies for what advertising sets and how to refuse it.

What we will not build

We do not sell, and will not build, any means of disguising authorship or making text pass a detector. A tool for that is a tool for deceiving somebody, and it would be useless to you anyway: the argument that works is that the accusation is unfounded.
